handheld products with global impact and a small introduction…
The students were asked to design a product (small) that once aggregated has a tremendous global (big) impact. The product was to address the global/local crisis surrounding water and to be tested in Barcelona, one of the nodes in our Fluid Campus, and a location that shares, like Clemson, a condition of tremendous water shortage.
The students were asked to research and identify the key issues contributing to the problem in Barcelona, to experiment with water as material and to explore its multifaceted qualities, to identify water in its many states, and to design a product that addresses water as a material, both quantitatively (performance) and qualitatively (affect).
The projects that follow demonstrate that an innovative product introduced at a “small” scale can have a tremendous “big” effect on this pressing problem.
